While we're on the subject, would someone let me know when OotS finally finishes?

It lost me back with Therkla and I suppose I'll just read through it all when it finishes.

Main reason it stopped being fun is how it changed on me. It used to have a lot of jokes and it told a decent story and good characters. Then it went all Sris Drama.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

OotS is getting to the point where less and less plot is happening because more and more stuff is being shown on screen.

It's easy to make "Elan's dad is an evil prick who can't understand why Elan would have moral qualms about spelling his name out in burning corpses" jokes, so we get tons of those. Then the entire "Elan's dad and his three buddies are secretly controlling the region through lies and murder" plot gets infodumped in what? two strips?

I've stopped caring what the big reveal is behind the big reveal behind the big reveal in Guilded Age. I took it off my favorites and stopped reading.

Ah, the reason for the "now two friends (whom I've barely developed) must battle!" shit was so that he could show Elan's dad to be evil sociopathic. again. To be honest, they got more development. Then died. So... yeah we probably won't be seeing them. Which sucks, I started to like them today. That was a waste of time.

Yeah, I think Burlew is running out of ideas and milking the ones he has for as long as possible to continue to make money. Can't fault him for pragmatism but it's mired the comic in filler hell.

I am sick of Gantz and the naked people everywhere all the time. I actually feel weird for having stuck it out as long as I managed. I do not mind me some gratuitous nudity but I discovered I have limits.

All the humans in Gantz are still not dead? These aliens are awfully ineffective.

Dilbert creator Scott Adams continues his downward spiral. I think he actually lost me back when he started his global warming denialism, but he keeps sinking lower and lower.

Edit: OK, what the fuckig fuck, bbcode?! Fuck you and your failed double parsing of percent encodings. Copy and paste this shiznit:

That's funny. I don't remember the global warming denial. Was it part of some arc, or just a single strip?

Dilbert ran a whole segment where he made fun of environmentalism. Stuff like this. A bunch of people asked whether he was actually anti-green or whether he was just being a dick.

Scott Adams says it is the former. Also, he is a creationist.

Yeah, that one's pretty bad.

Today, it snowed, which is unusual for where I live. So I hear people making the usual global warming cracks. I can never tell if they're just joking because it's so popular, or if they're actually retarded. You can never really ask in polite company. :p

I used to think that S Adams was mostly just trolling and complaining about that he was disgruntled mostly that scientists had not made explanations of evolution more easily understood by lay persons (such as himself). I am now forced to agree with PZ that the tenor and message of Adams' posts tends to imply an idiocy and agenda that makes me recategorize Adams from someone I would enjoy talking with into someone whose existence I do not begrudge.

What a douche.

Not at all. I welcome his existence and in fact enjoy much of his work. I certain do not envy his life. I just wouldn't care to be friends with the guy, or even have lunch with him.

[edit] I just noticed, it should have written "whose existence I merely do not begrudge". I blame my ipod for covertly devouring that word.

The Null Hypothesis is the counter proposal to any hypothesis that the hypothesis is false. So you say "What if X is affected by Y?" as your hypothesis, your Null Hypothesis is "What if it isn't?" Every good experiment tests against the Null Hypothesis in addition to testing the hypothesis itself. That's why we have controls and stuff. We also have "Alternate Hypotheses", which are alternate explanations for data sets.

But the point is that "disproving the Null Hypothesis" is th part of a study testing an effect where you demonstrate that there is an effect at all. So in the history of science "The Null Hypothesis" has been disproven hundreds of thousands or millions of times. And yet, we still test the Null Hypothesis every time, and sometimes we can't reject the Null Hypothesis. Like in those MMR-Autism studies, where ultimately the Null Hypothesis is almost certainly true.

Thanks Frank. I wish I'd kept up on science so I didn't have to ask stuff like this...

No sooner was I about to give PENNY ARCADE props from using "Jagoff" in yesterday's strip than they turn around and spit out this piece of hatespeech false advertising in their news and marketing post:
Gabe wrote:You can buy them in whatever size fits your feet.
All I have to say to that is:

CURSE ALLA YINZ THIN-FOOTED JAGOFFS! IT"S A FLIPPIN' MIRACLE YINZ CAN EVEN STAND UP WITHOUT TOPPlIN' OVER!!
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

well, not exactly lost me, but just reading through the intro story for the New Teen Titans, and Cyborg just said that Raven was less of a human than him.

Wow. Now that's fantastic racism.

Edit: Ah, I see, Cyborg's just a giant dick. Now it all makes sense...

Mangas usually lose me when they turn from whatever they were about (monster hunting, conspiracy, fantasy world saving) into fighting tournament wank.
